i swear i can draw, for some reason ive only ever posted sketchbook pages on here......................

CUTSCENES ARE SO FUNNY BECAUSE HE LOOKS LIKE THIS HALF THE TIME
i actually wanted to take time to flesh out his character and then start to play, but i got so impatient that i just jumped in. IM ONLY HALF REGRETTING MY DECISIONS.
i tend to overthink games like this because i get worried about choices/dialogue not being consistent enough with the character i make, so i like to fully develop the character inside and out beforehand. part of me wishes i did wait because i started off characterizing matthias as a generally sweet good guy who always says the nicest things which i ended up half-retconning, BUT I WILL JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH MY CHOICES. basically though this is all to say I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO INTRODUCE THIS GUY BECAUSE THERE ARE THINGS ABOUT HIM THAT I DONT EVEN KNOW?
here's what i do know so far though :3
as the middle child of a rich and powerful family with a bed-ridden little brother and a more politically promising elder brother, the luxury of attention was hardly a promise in matthias's quiet childhood. despite the lack of acknowledgement from his family, he excelled socially in school and had many friends. incredibly sweet and charismatic and loves his little brother caine. always made an effort to bond with him despite being cut off from most of his family due to his bedridden state. when his caine fully recovered, matthias essentially fell into the role of his sole guardian, helping him adjust to the outside world and does his best to keep him safe, comfortable, and happy.
he can come off as kind of an asshole with the things that he says, but he's just being playful. he never pushes farther than he thinks is appropriate and will promptly shut the hell up during serious moments.
he also absolutely adores astarion and hopes he feels the same way.
eventually ill sit down and draw him a proper character sheet and actually flesh him out, but for now im just having fun :>
i love all the characters so much but i think its funny that they also just. cannot keep secrets for the life of them.
it was really funny when gale was like "so because i trust you and only you my dear friend i will tell you this Secret Information About Myself, in fact, come see me later to learn even more about this Secret Information," while right in front of the entire party and astarion looks on like
AND ALSO. ASTARION.
WE KNOW YOU'RE A VAMPIRE.
him looking at the boar and pretending that he Totally Knows Nothing About Vampires Haha was extremely entertaining, even moreso with it being directly followed by the party discussing their favorite foods and astarion saying "mmmmmm.... i like. red meat. dripping. ❤️" and also every single time he says "careful, i bite" when you select him, or he kills an enemy and says "delicious"
GEE ASTARION. WHAT INTERESTING WORD CHOICES. THEY SEEM ALMOST. VAMPIRIC IN NATURE.
even funnier is wyll also apparently not being able to recognize him as a vampire.
in all fairness, he's walking around doing very impossible tasks for vampires so i guess everyone assumes hes just Like That.
I CAN'T WAIT TO KEEP PLAYING :3 IT'S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL GAME WITH RICH COMPLEX CHARACTERS AND ENOUGH CONTENT PACKED ALONGSIDE THE MAIN STORYLINE TO MAKE IT THE MOST DND-LIKE EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD OUTSIDE OF JUST. PLAYING DND.

astarion's so nosy 👀 it's funny because after someone tells you a secret and tells you not to tell anyone else, they all know anyway since they were creeping like astarion's doing LOL. no secrets in this camp!

ALSO YEAH THATS REALLY SILLY I LOVE IT ACTUALLY, I HAVE TO IMAGINE THEY WERE ALL JUST. STARING, WATCHING THE ENTIRE CONFRONTATION. or maybe one person was awake and word spread like wildfire, or matthias is the real source of all gossip and it just happens off screen lol. simply cannot keep secrets for the life of him. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING AND ENDLESS
