ILL WORK ON IT AGAIN EVENTUALLY, I JUST HAVE THIS THING WHERE MY BRAIN CANT FOCUS ON DRAWING AND PLAYING VIDEO GAMES IN THE SAME MONTH. its the reason why ive played so few games in my life.
MAKING THIS DESIGN WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!! I TRIED TO RESEARCH AS MUCH AS I COULD INTO FRANCOEUR'S DESIGN PROCESS AND TRIED TO ADHERE TO IT WHILE ALSO MAKING HIM MY OWN THING :3
I STRUGGLED WITH DECIDING WHAT HAIRSTYLE TO GIVE HIM BUT THEN REALIZED I COULD STYLE TWISTS TO RESEMBLE HIS LITTLE FLEA PINCERS AND FELL IN LOVE.
i tried shaping his vitiligo in the shape of a heart like the way is face is shaped but idk how deliberate it reads D:
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH THOUGH I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH HOW THIS DESIGN CAME OUT, I JUST GOTTA FINISH RENDERING!!!!!!!!!

so. just finished meeting auntie ethel.
THAT ENTIRE SECTION WAS SO GRIMDARK. I LOVED IT BUT MAN. SO BLEAK. SO DEPRESSING.
theres a little moment that happened im tempted to make a short comic out of because it made me giggle.
so from the original confrontation i ended up siding with ethel and went into battle.
except. i ended up attacking ethel instead because i have a bad habit of Not Paying Attention To Who I Target. i like to imagine the party being like. matthias why did you just attack ethel. isnt she the one we were trying to protect? shes not even here anymore. and matthias is like. oh my god, why do i just. zone out during battles and attack anyone within my sight
(THERE ARE MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE IVE ALMOST KILLED PARTY MEMBERS AND GIN HAD TO REMIND ME, ELIJAH, SHADOWHEART IS ON YOUR TEAM, REMEMBER?)
ANOTHER MOMENT THATS NOT AS FUNNY BUT JUST AS MATTHIAS CHARACTERIZATION RELEVANT:
I TRY TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT ACTUALLY KILLING/ATTACKING NPCS BECAUSE MATTHIAS WOULDNT JUST. KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE IN COLD BLOOD-
(except sometimes i forget this and after battles with regular just slightly aggressive civilians i immediately feel really bad and want to reload but the save file is from an hour ago. just imagine a very shocked and devastated matthias snapping back to reality and chastising himself for getting way too lost in battles. wait, what's that? caring about weaker people? *astarion disapproves*)
-SO WHEN FIGHTING THE PEOPLE UNDER ETHEL'S INFLUENCE I MADE SURE TO SELECT PASSIVE ATTACKS
(with the exception of astarion continually one-shotting people with ice knife and killing them before i could knock them out)

(most of them) WERE KNOCKED OUT AND THE ENCOUNTERED ENDED.
EXCEPT, WHEN I WENT TO CHECK IN WITH THEM POST-ETHEL-BATTLE, THEY WERE ALL DEAD. just, imagine an emotionally devastated matthias collapsing to his knees, swearing on his life that they were just unconscious.
IDK IF I WAS SUPPOSED TO HEAL THEM OR SOMETHING AFTER WE FOUGHT, BUT LIKE. MAN.
WAHHHHHHH THIS SCENE. theres something so absolutely heartwarming about the found family dynamic of the whole party. the way matthias and astarion interact throughout this whole dialogue is so absolutely silly, and the way the whole party just. fucks this guy up. astarion even got to drink from him >:)
ASTARION YOU'RE NOT ALONE ANYMORE!!!!! YOU HAVE A WHOLE PARTY OF PEOPLE BEHIND YOU TO BACK YOU UP AND STAND BY YOUR SIDE!!!!!!!!!!
ALSO SEMI RELATED I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING GIN CAUGHT DURING THE FIGHT. WHEN CASTING VICIOUS MOCKERY, ETHEL SAYS TO ASTARION "still got a rat between your teeth, slave?"
