imposter syndrome sandwich

ironicallyelijahhihihihi do u guys wanna see some homework ive been up to
so for my drawing II class the teacher gives us a vague prompt to work off of with some perimeters to include and then we go wild. honestly i missed digital drawing a lot so this is so nice for me ^_^ also im working on my freshman short film rn which is both fun and terrifying so i dont have any free time at all <\3 i barely have enough time to work on homework for other classes BUT I AM SO CLOSE TO UNLOCKING THE SECRETS OF TIME MANAGEMENT TRUST
every assignment we do we need to make two thumbnails, two sketches, and compile a reference sheet. then after he gives us feedback and helps us choose a sketch we have another week to finish up the piece. this assignment i was ripping my hair out with because its really hard for my brain to work in 3d/perspective, so i got frustrated and gave up and put fake thumbnails so i could use my actual thumbnails as the sketches. about an hour before class started i tried to at least make one cleaned up actual sketch though.
my references ^_^ I LOVE DINERS when i draw them they dont love me tho <\3
this was the finalized piece!!! honestly, still not my favorite but its done!! this assignment was basically just make a black and white piece with perspective and texture (my piece actually has a pretty jarring lack of texture..........) even though ive been drawing for literally my entire life and digitally drawing for 7+ years, i genuinely had never thought about values in terms of color theory or leading the eye through a piece, so this straight up changed my life. now i get to look at all my old pieces and see how unfocused they all are and how theyre all just different shades of midtones <\3
for a value study this isnt perfect, but it changed my life so theres that
NEXT PIECE, the prompt was draw something you love, and this time we had to apply color which after learning the values felt like such a whole other beast. also you may notice i have two thumbnails and two color scripts. this assignment i actually loved doing a lot, i just ran out of time for that week and had to pretend my color scripts were my sketches oops
REFERENCESSSSS, for some reason the first time he told us to compile a reference sheet i couldve sworn he said life photos only so i felt so boring being the only one with just. a bunch of photos of diners <\3 NOT THIS TIME THOUGH
i actually only finished this one an hour ago and should go to bed oops
im not totally sure if i wanna make changes to it or not but tomorrow i gotta finalize my storyboards, complete a style frame, and put together a pitch for my freshman film to deliver to my class on thursday so unfortunately i gotta shift my priorities <\3 ITS OKAY ILL LIVE and i can just work on it on my own time after its graded
anyways i really should just. go to bed. i am so lucky that i have an afternoon class tomorrow. all my friends can wake up like 20 minutes before class and get there on time but because i commute from a whole other borough i gotta wake up 3-4 hours before class, and 3/5 of my classes start at 9 am.....................................
its actually insane how ive only been late to classes twice and only ever skipped once. to finish homework for another class.
